Is it as simple as whacking some lights on it, or is there more to it than that!
Thanks.

A lot more to it than that. I made one that had been off the road for 5 years road legal again and it was quite abit of work. The bike I did was complete and in very good cond. And at the end of the day I was only about $500 better off than I would have been if I had spent more time hunting for that bike that was already road legal. I had to get the brakes checked and that resulted in new disks. I also had to put new blinker lenses on because the old one (which I thought were original) did not have the correct stamp on them.

And there are some off-road bikes that are imported in two variants - registerable and non-registerable.There can be significant differences even though they "look"the same.A non-road version may not be able to be converted.
