can i mount tail lights on the mudgardsof a trailer

v8_mopar, May 15, 4:53am
only if they are at the back of the trailer or if you have lights at the back of the trailer as well. normally you would put yellow side lights on guards

Why do you want them there

there used to be a factsheet on the LTNZ website showing tail-lights & the angles they must be able to be seen from (making guard mounted light illegal), but I cant find it & it just states the real basics

So .
Please save me the bother of working that lot out ;-)

On a std 6' x 4' domestic trailer, where should the lights be placed
All of my trailers have had them placed 6" back from the face of the back & number plate on the mudguard + light.
(back of deck to back of tail light housing)

Never been refused a wof in 35 years from many wof places & many trailers for light/ number plate placement

To be specific .
Of my understanding of the regs = NO
Running/ width lights = yes , along with the proper tail lights in the correct placement
