Why do Falcons depreciate so much?

even more dribble i just checked ancap test results and all the cars i checked had 5 stars. for those that dont know the stars are made out of points so here are the scores. COLORADO 35.09 out of 37 FORD RANGER 35.72 out of 37 COMMODORE 33.45/37 FALCON 34.61/37. This explains why morons pay to much for commodores. i will call it BUBBLES syndrome

3tomany, Jul 15, 8:21pm
just not as bigger piece of shite as a holden lol.manure costs a lot of coin these days

icemans1, Jul 16, 7:28am
probably because of the rust issues they tend to have

clark20, Jul 16, 7:29am
Of course Falcons are cheaper, they know their true value!

mapman, Jul 16, 8:25pm
Commodore v6 is a dog! Shite talk by a shite Fordy. Keeping Ford fanboys comments out of it, value, what ever it is, has a way of finding out itself. If the Commodore is more expensive than a Falcoon, there would be a reason for it. I've never heard of a house worth more in Petone than one in Central Auckland and clearly a Coon should be cheaper than a Commodore and that is the way it is, is it not 3tomany!

The reason is your average Holden buyer is a bit dumber than a Ford buyer. Holden buyers get caught up in the advertising and hype and buy one because they think others will think they are cool. Ford owners generally don't give a toss what others think as they know they are in the better car.

This is just my generalised opinion based on what I know about the quality of each car manufactured and the advertising done by each car manufacturer and what I have observed about the personality/psychology of Ford and Holden lovers alike.

This is not meant to be offensive to Holden lovers of course.

chris_051, Jul 16, 9:01pm
^^^ too right the same reason why the sheep think a dodge ram is cooler than a silverado or f truck, a hilux cooler than navara, a cat is cooler than cummins or komatsu, most are badge snobs with no real experience.

tonyrockyhorror, Jul 16, 9:01pm
Exactly. Popularity (driving up prices) doesn't mean something's better. VHS won over BETA in the public's purchasing (primarily due to recording duration) but most professionals used BETA because it was a superior recording.

mapman, Jul 16, 9:15pm
Tell yourself this a few more times and even you might believe it too. I've had way more Fords than Holdens BTW. I'd look at a Falcon no worries if I thought it was the better car. I think I'll be sticking to Holden for a long time to come. Isn??

3tomany, Jul 16, 9:37pm
and gm still went bust go figure

tonyrockyhorror, Jul 16, 9:42pm
Do they! Well, you're telling the story.

xpfairmont, Jul 16, 9:50pm
or maybe Holden owner like to pay more for their OTT body kits. More plastic on the body please!

hopie, Jul 16, 9:59pm
I took the factory plastic off my SS and put some even bigger aftermarket fibreglass on it. for weight reduction of-course

floscey, Jul 16, 10:11pm
cool story bro .

hopie, Jul 16, 10:25pm
I liked it too :)

richardmayes, Jul 16, 10:48pm
When you look at all the aggro you see from thin-skinned FORDOR-HOLDIN! people all the time, it's a wonder anybody can be bothered owning either car.You wouldn't think it was worth all the grief.

bellky, Jul 16, 11:02pm
You don't seem to understand richardmayes.

Would you stick up for something you believed in!

I think you would. I think it's the same thing.

bubbles244, Jul 17, 12:28am
IT isn't worth the grief any more.just buy a holden

Australia's government is a little.hmmmm no rather pissed off with ford after sinking 230 million into fords so called "green" car which doesn't meet the governments standards.they wont use it, which means ford can't sell it. ford employees and lease companies are the major consumers of fords new "green" falcon which uses less fuel then holdens V6 and yet produces more pollution.wtf.

only 56 sold to private buyers since its production.! seriously how are they supposed to pay the government back.
wake up and stub your toe on the grave stone ford, one foots in the grave already that's for sure

bubbles244, Jul 17, 12:30am
GM went bust not GMH australia.

secondly thats in reference to the yank Buick v6 not the aussie designed and produced alloytec v6.

3tomany, Jul 17, 12:48am
holden only stayed out bankrupsy because aussie gov put up 400 million to keep it out. talk about failures ppvs going to america holden thought they would sell 20000 per year so far they have managed just 1000 and in september they will have done there first full year of sales at leesed the yanks know a pos when they see one

unbeatabull, Jul 17, 1:31am
I gotta say, the Commodore V6 is a dog. You have to be a one eye'd fanboy to see otherwise. The supercharged one's are okish . but nothing special. Hell a 20 year old Jap turbo still outperforms them.

The HSV's do look a bit nicer, and I think the main reason people buy them is due to the badge and 'prestige' of owning a Holden. In my experience, I've found them much the sameness. To the point where there is a lot of shared parts & same/similar suspension setups etc between the cars as well.

Ford outsells Holden in NZ BTW.

mapman, Jul 17, 1:31am
How ever smart you are about answering why Fords don??

unbeatabull, Jul 17, 1:42am
I was replying to you saying the V6 wasn't a dog. I commented earlier about why I thought the Coons depreciate (Lease Companies etc). At least read before you reply.

mapman, Jul 17, 1:53am
I was not replying to you, just a general statement that's all. Your post was not even there when a push post message. Keep your hat on.

gunhand, Jul 17, 1:58am
Depreciation dosn't worry me a hell of a lot.Its a fact of life when buying a car (most cars) that you will loose at the other end. Maybe Falcons are just priced where they should be when 2nd hand. And has anyone done a proper model for model, KMs for Kms, Year for year, number of owners and condition comparison!Prob not.
I see you can get a 2nd, 3rd hand FG falcon for a very good price now so thats good for the buyer I think. Both FG and VE seem to have there faults thats for sure so neither are amune to that.
And has anyone actually seen what cars eventually sell for off a yard. Any dealer can shove a Holden on the yard 3k dearer than a comparative ford but dosn't mean it sold for that.
If I was looking at an 09 or later Falcon or Holden I would compare both and go with the most bang for buck. In the end there just large cars that do pretty much the same thing. They have 4 wheels (5 if they actaully have a spare) 4 doors, air con, air bags, abs, etc etc etc so nothing really seperates them at all. and Ive paid very close attention to build quality of both and they can't hold there heads high in that department.
Ive drivin both FG, VE and they both look and feel cheap inside but unless you want to pay 120k plus for a new car you have to excpect that.
Ive owned Fords and Holdens and they did everything a car is suppose too and both had good and bad points.
I have a Ford at the mo that Im quit happy with but when I change I think I will go back to a jappa.
