I've got an e46 bmw 330ci and am getting some new 19inch staggered wheels fitted on them. Now, I've been asking around on what size tyres I should fit and am getting all sort of answers. The wheels are 8.5 wide in front and 9.5 wide at the back. I don't want the front ones sticking out so would prefer between 225-235 wide at most and th widest possible for the back without it touching when i have people sitting at the back. Any ttyre expert got any suggestion!

Stick the wheels on without tyres and have a look.

225-235 will be fine on the 8.5s. 275s on the back!

just keep in mind that stretched tyres are no longer certifiable

Yes they are. They just have to follow the guidelines. They will allow mild stretch unless otherwise stated by the tyre manufacturers (and it just so happens there's a few out there which specify as wide as 8" to be permitted fitting a 205 tyre on).
