There are managerial plans in place for HD that I am not sure are in the public domain as yet, but it is looking good and I am 100% behind this initiative and have been since I was first shown the basic plans, at least two years before they were made public, so that is about 10 years ago.

The overall plans for the place incorporated a lot of vision and so far, they have made significant strides. It already has what I believe is the country's only dedicated skid pan - complete with water spray. The off road course for mud pluggers is also active.

Future plans are comprehensive, some of which rely on the sale of yet to be built units with 3 bed accomodatioon and substantial storage; leasing of the still to be built village on the bottom straight; debenture funded motor museum; camp ground; assault course, kart track, jet boat facility and so on.
Non of this is reliant on government or council funding but does rely on the banks loaning money to purchasers and investors. All banks have been very slow in supporting the project, not just the circuit's bankers.

Even for our own modest investment, the bank were only putting up 50%, but still wanted a security on our family home back in 2009!That has now been removed, but we were not impressed with their attitude or stance.

Strange ,when it was anounced Puke couldntrunV8 s upercars anymore& HD was planned, all said what a wonder fullthingfor msport, build it & they will all come .Unfortunatley politics & big $$ got in the way .Shame on silly Lenthat $$ couldmake HD a truemultim otor sport venuenow, not in 10 years ofrelying onproffit tofund it

floscey, Jul 3, 3:03pm
48 hours to sign up and "no" you cant see the contracts.time to say goodbye.

socram, Jul 3, 4:38pm
And IF the council reject it, then what!No V8s, or another approach to HD, but without a $10m sweetener!

Hamilton was critcised by the Audit Office for not asking the right questions, so the Auckland Council keeps discussions and details secret.Brilliant.Don't you just love politicians - or is it TC insisting that it is kept secret!

serf407, Jul 3, 5:01pm
What can the rate payer do to voice their opinion in a formal manner !
Look up the council's contact details or are there other ways !

mopsy3, Jul 3, 5:16pm
You forgot to mention Mt Wellington Kart track under Auckland jurisdiction. Mt Wellington is the home of more motoersport champions than Auckland.
And I can assure you that the Colin Dale Motorsport Park has NOT fallen over despite any rumours you may have heard to the contrary.

floscey, Jul 3, 5:22pm
we all know its Tony . As ive said before its easier to dupe the concill than a track owner. Track owners play with real money , concils play with someone elses .

socram, Jul 3, 5:32pm
Thanks for that.Yes I'd overlooked it.

eagles9999, Jul 3, 6:51pm
At least when you are on site you do see the streakers in their full glory.

elect70, Jul 3, 10:21pm
You can go to council meetingrequest speaking right first , then askfordetails ofdeal , If your a ratepayer its your right to know . But probably have you removed if you persist .

twink19, Jul 3, 10:42pm
I heard that the meeting was closed to public, I think that they know whats best for us

patiki1, Jul 4, 2:13am
What is Len doing wrong! Why should Auckland rate payers pay for a track outside Auckland!

socram, Jul 4, 2:31am
If it hadn't been for Rodney Hide, then Lenny wouldn't have had any input into Pukekohe at all.

twink19, Jul 4, 4:34am
now theres another story, Rodney bloody Hide, thanks for the extra bills

bill-robinson, Jul 4, 8:40pm
Why don't one of the aucklanders call len and ask him to telephone the mayor of Hamilton and get the real story of the costs and payments involved in dealing with TC. must be to easy.

xpfairmont, Jul 4, 8:44pm
If it wasn't for a bunch of plockers we would had a street race on Auckland waterfront instead of Hamilton.
but never mind, water under a bridge.

xpfairmont, Jul 4, 8:46pm
haha good point.

socram, Jul 4, 8:52pm
Len will know as he is the one who has been privy to the contract negotiations, but not the full council.

Tony Roberts rang Newstalk ZB this morning and straightened a few facts for a couple of previous callers, who as usual, had it totally wrong.

He (along with many other Auckland ratepayers) queries why the council should be putting $5.5m into upgrading Pukekohe, when it is privately owned.Auckland tourism supporting the event is one thing, but the $5.5m capital cost is difficult to justify.
Do these 'improvements' mean the track will be out of action at any stage between now and April, thus damaging other meetings!I'd like to know as soon as possible, as it could well affect our series championship, which currently has six events, covering HD, Taupo and Pukekohe.

Do these'improvements' mean the track hire fees are going to be raised and therefore race entry fees, and possibly admission prices, for lesser events!
Franklin Racing club needs to come clean, as they have been amazingly quiet about all this so far.

twink19, Jul 4, 9:06pm
latest from council meeting, they are going to defer any decission until they have more info,

elect70, Jul 4, 9:28pm
Stillif it goes to HD they will fill all the infeild veiwing areas with corporateboxesascant put them anywhere else ,then only seecars on themain straight .

xpfairmont, Jul 4, 10:06pm

twink19, Jul 4, 10:15pm
dont know where they get the bit thtat HD would need upgrading, its a new track. same as rugby world cup, rate payers pay, track owners get the prize

gman35, Jul 4, 11:22pm
Hooray Group A is coming back ! , all different capacity , speed , and designed cars which you can actually compare to what you could buy. Oh , what , it's just the Supercars again ! Oh well , doesn't matter where it is then to me ,just a bigger vehicled , slower version of F1.

xpfairmont, Jul 4, 11:48pm
because F1 is like what you can actually buy and drive home in.
Also they overtake with the v8 not just follow around in the same order from start to finish.
