Looks to me like the Nissan around the pole may have had a replacement front clip sometime in its life.

Absolute rubbish if you take almost any car and wrap it around a pole at that speed, and angle you will end up with pratically exactly the same result, almost any car even alot of "modern" euros would not hold up in that scenario. That is a very unusual place for a crash impact.

I remember selling them new , in 1990 , the whole range got power steering as standard that year.
