maybe holden is trying to out do ford with fire risks

icemans1, Jun 27, 6:53am
true and they average DIY guy is sloppy

My NB MX5 has that issue.Very difficult filter location, and a splash-guard directly underneath which is very hard to reach.
Perhaps there's a bit more to this recall than stated, as it does seem rather over-fussy.

Whilst it perhaps is quite minor, manufacturers dont just recall vehicles becasue a couple of people had an issue

savanna71, Jun 27, 7:22am
I assure you if they recalled every vehicle that had a 1 of fault or possible incident there would be nothing on the roads. There will be many multiple incidents before the manufacturer gets involved and investigates at which point they will put together a CRP or recall as needed

savanna71 the N16 Pulsar had a major recall in Aus,all because 1 car in the uk had a problem,it happens all the time.

savanna71, Jun 27, 7:31am
Believe what you will, i have a pretty good idea how the system works i work for a manufacturer

mm12345, Jun 27, 7:32am
Hmmm.Takes a hell of a lot of heat to get a bit of spilled engine oil to ignite. The splash guards are normally plastic, so they'd be a melted mess which has dripped on the road long before any oil sitting on them had ignited.I'm just guessing that there's some other related issue that they'll fix, but they're not being 100% straight up on the issue.

Drill a hole in the cover, /problem

mm12345, Jun 27, 8:07am
Never change the oil filter - even easier.

modie61, Jun 27, 9:40am
Savanna, i did 2000000 of the recalls so i know.

kaituna, Jun 27, 9:49am
Lol they should recall my ten year old subaru as i leaks oil from the front main onto the exhaust. Surly a fire risk!

savanna71, Jun 27, 9:58am
Correct there have been at least 30 reported vehicles in the US catch fire

redhead96, Jun 27, 11:11am
Yep,The NZ one is a precautionary one as the US one was for cars made there.
Pity the headline didn't actually say that.

outbidyou2, Jun 27, 11:16am
pathetic thread

modie61, Jun 28, 7:06am
Try starting one of your own then outbid.

wasser61, Jun 28, 9:15am
2,000,000 recalls! Well that wasn't in NZ or Aus.

austingtir, Jun 28, 9:45am
^^ their cant be 2million people stupid enough to buy a cruze in the first place.

kazbanz, Jun 28, 9:11pm
NO reported fires. I bet its like subies with leaking rocker cover gaskets.
Not fire as suck just a cloud of smoke from the engine bay -not a good look for them
