how much to do a cambelt on a honda integra and also to get the rotors machined!

$600 odd for the cambelt job. Rotors machined.don't bother, get new ones.

i took mine in for a service and thats wot they recommended as well. but why would the rotors need machining if they havent said the brake pads are worn, or is this something else!

A number of reasons. usually because they are warped. or groved.
As said, get new ones. Not that exensive. compared to no brakes!

Where did you go for a service! Midas or PitStop!
Ask the mechanic whom recommended the discs needed done as to why.
Get a 2nd opinion if you are unsure. Rotors are very cheap to buy new these days, especially for mainstream cars (like an Integra).

ok cool, and went to the local honda dealership. have to to keep my warranty valid. il look into new ones then

Front rotors and Pads $563.Fitted.Reason new are better than machining is that all it does is thin out the rotor,therefore it will heat up quicker under hard braking,and warp again.And cause the original problem (steering shudder) to reoccur.Best to get new pads at same time,and 'bed' them in properly.Plenty of info on this on the Interweb.
