looking at a volvo 440 GLT. 90s model. what are these cars like! good and bad points please! the one im looking at is 1700CC manual

of course they are, you have to remember that a five year old car is out of date and a ten year old car is junkyard material in most european countries.They don't bother keeping old crap on the road.Remember also that there are very few of them in NZ.

don't do it. The 440 is an oddball here in NZ and is not really a particularly great car. I would look at something like an 850 instead.

are they overly quick for what they are! the parts availability issue, does this include engine bits or just body stuff!

Dad had a 360glt for a while, did about 60,000kms in it - good car but as said unless you have a few contacts in old blighty forget it - rear wheel bearing was rough - dealerships nationwide wanted about $600 for it - we got a 2nd hand axle assy for $50 & threw the lot in easy as They looked at 440's but more of an orphan here - not many around compared to 900's & 360's

if you can repair a car then you can get parts easy sent to your door some more iffy parts you will need to source otherwise but basic parts are available for any euro odball car ordered over the net seekparts is the website to look for they are in germany and ship worldwide for 50 euro per parcel 380$ is the amount to order or below or customs tax and gst will be added pushing your 400$ purchase to about 500 bux its about 20 to 25% tax and gst and it is charged on fraight and goods so be carfull and the border is not stupide you wont import a new head for 50$ value they know it will be close to a grand for a example.
