wonder if anyone can help out with a bit of advice.while driving it makes a not quite a grinding noise when taking the foot off the accelerator, hard to explain the noise whilst driving but not quite grinding.just before the noise started happening it made a bang, and it overheated, once it had a chance to cool down got it back home with no further overheating,

Does it make the noise when the motor is idling and the car is stationary! or do you have to be moving. If it overheated how much water did it loose ! Is it still loosing water ! Start it up look at the water pump at the front of the motor. Does the noise appear to be in that area ! Could just be stuffed water pump leading to loss of water and resultant over heating !

Where is the noise coming from, up front, motor alt, water pump, p,steer pump, idler, under your seat (g,box) or behind (the diff or wheel brgs) Get it checked out by a garage then you can decide how you would like to fix it.good luck
