work fine most the time but sometimes go to the floor. do they need bleeding!

That would be a start. You also might have a faulty master cylinder

Put your foot on the brake and hold on the pressure. If it slowly sinks to the floor the master is probably corroded from water and leaking past the seals

you shouldnt be driving it if the pedal goes to the floor, trailer it to a expert before you kill someone.
