Looking at buying one, just wondering what peoples opinions are on this model, eg good points and bad with a car like this.

Good and fast, watch for diff whine and crunchy gears (manual) when cold. Also some early ones had clutch problems.

im not too sure if this model is the turbo model BUT get the turbo checked make sure they have changed the turbo oil feed filter, plus as clark20 said gearbox is hard to change when cold

then get it checked out by a ford dealership these were very troublesum for both the g/box and turbo , ford did recall some to replace the filter just not too sure what years

Id personally recommend getting the 6Spd Auto, the manuals have a heavy clutch and you will get sick of changing gears all the time in the 6spd Manual as they are rather close ratio.

As others suggested, check the turbo filter feed has been replaced, it is a bit of a job and it does cause them to starve of oil if not done. Also check service history, Diff oils, gearbox oil, etc etc

With the flexibility of the engine you can easily 'skip shift' the gears for day to day running ie 1-3-4-6 or 1-3-5-6.
