Kinda sound like when you spin a bicycle wheel and put a plastic ruler in spokes. When it's driving it's going and in drive. Seams to get louder in that moment when you take your foot off the gas while your driving just before you touch the brake if that makes sense, like a surge sort of thing. Vehicle drives fine but is using a wee bit of oil.

Any ideas would be great or suggestions if a good mechanic east or south Auckland

Thanks in advance

With the motor idling check that the accessory belt isn't chattering up and down on the auto tensioner . if it is the tensioner is pukeroood.

really dirty oil has dunged up hydraulic liftersor broken piston, or little end bearing, or an expensive noise emanating from within the confines of the engine

Lack of oil changes have blocked up the oil pump pick up. The noise you can hear is either the top end running dry or you have run a big end bearing. These engines do not have hydrolic lifters so the noise you can hear is doing damage and it is a common fault for the 1AZ-FE engine if it has not been serviced correctly or on time.
