It means Sport, basically it lets the car rev higher than normal before changing up a gear. It also lets you use the overdrive button, which you can't when in Drive. (Atleast if it's a Prelude, anyway)

Overdrive isn't any more economical, it's good to have overdrive off in town, when you're doing around 50kph, so you don't keep changing up to 4th, then down to 3rd and back to 4th again.

Put it in S and see what it feels like on takeoff, if it feels like it pulls away slower than normal it will be S for snow, if it pulls away fast and holds the gears for longer and changes at higher revs then it will be S for sport.

It only engages properly above 100 kmh.so make sure you get up to speed before engaging it ;) lol
