Wasting your time just doing the boot, if the boot has split then water and crud has got into the joint and it will fail. The process of re-booting is the same as complete joint replacement time wise, so you might as well just fork out for a new CV and not have to have the job done twice.
Depending where you go, 150 to 180 ish fitted.

IF the CV joint is fine and you're pressed for money, you can get "Stretchy" CV Boots that just slip over the joint without having to disassemble it all. Takes 1/4 of the time, so obv less labour cost. Usually around $60 fitted.
