Has that got a 2y in it! try and find a 3y (2litre) or 4y(2.2litre)engine,that should be a bolt-in conversion.

4Y is going to be the easiest, bear in mind that it isn't really a powerhouse either, getting a good one might be a bit difficult as they were only really fitted to the last of the late 80's shape Hiaces and have done moonbeam kms.Remember of course that an LVV cert is going to be needed afterwards.

2Y.3Y.4Y.they-
all look the same.

franc123, Sep 16, 7:39am
Of course they do, no problem until the day an insurance assessor checks the engine number.

There's always a lexus V8 but that's not cheap, you could sell your hilux and bysomething else.

you can get off the shelf conversion kits for the 3.8 commodore motor, and they are a cheap enough motor to buy

jessie169, Sep 16, 8:18am
where from!

mugenb20b, Sep 16, 8:54am
Angle grinder fixes that problem.

I can't remember the site offhand but i've also seen them for sale on trademe before

The Commodore V6 conversion kits come from an outfit in Brisbane that specialises in V6 repowers into all sorts of things, don't know their name but mr google will know. The angle grinder isn't going to disguise that conversion sadly.
