Just replaced the drive belt on a 50cc Scooter now

it won't start. it is trying to fire but won't. It seems like the belt is to tight and the brake has to be held on when you are using the starter. This seems like there is to much restriction on the starter. The belt is the same as what came off it. Thanks

When you dismantle to fit the belt, do you go any where near the fly wheel where the alternater might be,, could be just a wire or an earth.

Knocked the vacuum hose of the fuel tank tap or the other end if it has the vacuum hose ! Fits on somewhere around the inlet manifold I think !.

Did you squeeze the rear clutch pulleys apart so the belt has some slack in it! A new belt will always be a bit tighter to start with until it runs in but. But if the pulleys are pulled apart when the belt is installed it should be slack until started up, then the variator will adjust to the correct tension.

The Variator weights had moved when the belt snaped. once I removed it and put the weights back properly, it started and ran properly. Thanks
