Will it be a daily driver or spend time on the track!

What oil did the engine builder recommend!

bevharris1938, Nov 3, 8:19am
Its a road car , didn't know the engine builder , it done 5000kms

trdbzr, Nov 3, 8:51am
Something along the lines of 0/5 - 30/40.

5 w40. or if you have a loose big end bearing add 330ml of 5% woodstock and cola. works for around 40K kms . time to save up for the rebuild.

i run 5w30 on my Galant VR4 6A13TT. it quiettens the infamous mitsi tappets too.

Any advantage going to synthetic over mineral !

we run Total Quartz 10w40 synthetic in a rally VR4. It seems to love it. dont loose any on the dipstick. But be guided by whoever dyno's/built the engine. they should know and reccommend. Just be very wary thou - too hot/too thin, and they end end up blowing oil out of seals, gaskets, all sorts of places. check that the factory PVC valve has been either drilled out and enlarged, or blanked off and other means of crank case ventilation has been drilled/tapped in, to feed an oil catch tank.

Synthetic is a much better option for a 310kw Evo. If you are unsure about the oil, give STM (Speedtechnz) a call, they should be able to give you some pretty good advice.

Whatever you do choose, make sure you stick to it and don't change. (viscosity that is, you can change brands)

I'd recommend something/40. 10w40 sounds pretty good as above.
