Yup youve cooked it (sorry) its probably done this because of an airlock in the cooling system this is a very common thing for subs

subarus have to be filled completly with water and bled properly. on the grandwagons there is a bleed screw on the opposite side of the radiator to the cap, to your left if you are looking down at it, This needs to be taken out when re filling cooling system otherwise you will never completely fill it and have air locks etc causing big problems in the 2.5 motor. I suggest putting a new thermostat in and refilling properly and see how it goes.

Another issue that can cause over heating in them is blocked heater core. If its block when you acccelerate you will her a water gargling sound behind the dash. I simple patch up job for this is to fit a goal post junction between the 2 heater hoses under bonnet, the goal post allows water to flow back when blocked but also allows some to get through the heater so it will still work (just wont blow as hot as usual)

yip no thanks guys but i did undo the screw. and really , hosed the water in slowly and waited .so that task was done . do u think radiator may need replacing. oh yeah the head comes thru the heater good.

To successfully bleed you engine it needs to be running best to jack the front of the car up they are a bstard of a thing to bleed the air out of as anyone who has worked one will tell you run it with the cap off while jacked up it takes a long time to get the air out good luck and dont replace the radiator get it rodded at a radiator specialist overheating is the biggest cause of death in subs

once again thanks ive just finshed pulling heater hose and runing the hose . thru it ,, good flow. run it so,s water was cold then . started again. it didnt take much for the damn thing to throw warn to getting hot water out of the bleed screw. ahhhh i give up.

Those thinga are bad for radiators choking with silt get it rodded out bled properly and you might be ok, but once problems start with Subarus the end is nigh

If its cracked the head or gasket. Chuck one of those head gasket fixes in a bottle. Have had very good success before with one of these and got me a year and a half out of my engine before she let go again.
