automatic toyota corolla wouldn't shift into reverse gear by using the gear knob but would shift when press the red (release) button on the gearbox and then the car drives normal. It happens only in the reverse gear and this problem just started recently. Thanks

Should be an easy fix. Replace the fuse or bulbs. The fuse box you are looking for depending on the year corolla. will be down by the accelerator pedal or in that general area. The shift lock gear stick is controlled by the brake light circuit so you cant pull the car out of P until you have put your foot on the brake. so when the fuse blows the shift lock no longer has power and this is why you need to push the red over ride button.

OP is it a case of wont move out of park or wont go into reverse from neutral!Out of park advice above is good but out of neutral will be a different problem.

out of a park :) seems like someone has taken out the brake fuse and put it into electric mirrors to make them work as they were not working before and now the mirrors are making noise and not working either. Now it's hard to find where the mirror fuse has been installed !
