Isuzu clarity on motors

The 3.1 turbo (4JG2-T) is a good motor, but lacks power and torque compared to the Bighorn's 3.0 litre (4JX1). As nice as the 3.0 litre motor is, in terms of power and economy, it's a dog.an absolute dog.it's plagued with problems.

However, if you are reffering to Holden Rodeo's (Isuzu's rather) 3.0 litre turbo diesel, that's a totally different beast from the 4JX1. The Rodeo motor is very close in design to the old 2.8 and 3.1. Noisy, gutless, and will go forever.

100% agree with mugen! 3.1 4JG2 will go forever. And avoid 3.0 4JX1 at all costs! Worst motor in an isuzu ever.

Ok so the motor in auction 537757878 would be one to stay away from or ok to go with!

Thanks guys - Mine was a Bighorn Plaisir 3.1 Turbo 1997 at it blew up are they actually the ones that are ok!

3.1 is good, but they are all getting long in the tooth. A second hand one may or may not be OK, so if going down this track, get one with a warranty. At the same time, fit a new cambelt and water pump, and get the radiator rodded out. Keep your old motor for spare parts.

"Blown up" is a pretty loose term. What exactly has gone wrong!

Well the quote to replace motor additional stuff is $6700 including labour

Which will just about pay for another Bighorn. Big decision to make.do you need a 4WD! $6700 alone can buy a decent car.
