Old Nissan forklift engine.

kingfisher21, Dec 7, 8:02am
Pretty sure it's an early E series engine.

Looks like they had some BMC blueprints fall off the back of a truck outside the Nissan factory.

620/720 Ute - thats just a bit of a guess been a long time since I had a 720.

doon3, Dec 7, 10:14am
thanks for the replys so is it early 80s or late 70s!

kingfisher21, Dec 7, 10:44am
Probably actually more like mid 60's, very early 70's.

bill-robinson, Dec 7, 7:13pm
looks like a BMC A40 (1950's) to me. cannot remember wether a Devon or Somerset. BMC did sell the rights to Nissan so could be a copy

supernova2, Dec 7, 10:17pm
I was thinking early buebird but wastn't till above posts i realised early meant 50 years old!

kingfisher21, Dec 8, 12:51am
E1 is correct, but I'm betting it's a forklift engine, look at the engine mounting plates.

the-lada-dude, Dec 8, 2:21am
bmc 970s engine, very common, and worthless really, give you $ 20 for it

kingfisher21, Dec 8, 7:32am
Look at the pics again, I doubt a BMC engine would have Nissan cast on the side of the block.

johnf_456, Dec 8, 7:51am
Scrap even pays more

morrisman1, Dec 8, 8:06am
This is the engine that everyone is thinking of when they say that the nissan A-series is a copy of the BMC engine.

the-lada-dude, Dec 8, 7:24pm
well,. turns out you really don't know your engines, my post was a leg pull, heres a guess john boy, someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but in mint condition $ 5000 would be a bargin

nufix72, Dec 8, 8:17pm
Very likely out of an old Komatsu forklift.
