What can I say lol

mitsilad, Dec 16, 2:43pm
doublexiao, do not be surprised if you also get asked to pay for his loss of earnings while the taxi is being repaired.Being a business vehicle this is a legitimate part of the 'damage' that has resulted from the crash.

The insurance company's assessor will pick up if they are trying to claim damage from anothere event. From experience, they are very tough on this.

If you have a bank account, or access to funds via family, some insurance companies will accept a reasonable cash offer rather than recovering over a long period of time. This reflects that while they have a file open they have to check that the payments are coming in ~ all time and effort.

3tomany, Dec 16, 7:56pm
good advise

doublexiao, Dec 17, 11:40am
Thanks the two above.

Yes it's fair enough if his insurance repair at our cost but what's difficult is the 'loss of earnings' part. We could be stuck paying 200 a day while his vehicle sits in a repair shop somewhere for weeks and he's at home on his ass.

kazbanz, Dec 17, 1:14pm
AND! -Do you think he chooses to be "sitting on his ass" during the very peak time for taxi drivers!

a.woodrow, Dec 17, 4:13pm
Thats why you should be more careful when you drive - or pay for insurance

supernova2, Dec 17, 4:49pm
Could be a lot more than $200 a day if you are unlucky. When ins coy contacts you they will give you all the good news. You need to nail tyem down on how long will the reapir take, is the vehicle useable until rrepairs start and so on.

If you'd paid the $50 for third party insurance, your insurance company would be paying that instead.

3tomany, Dec 17, 6:38pm

This would make me wonder if he's rushing off to get his own insurance now, although as it's not his fault, why would he if he had none! Unless he has no licence or something! Might pay to check that out!

doublexiao, Dec 17, 9:23pm
Hold on a second. Been talking to my partner and starting to wonder whether I am really at fault here. As I understood it when you go into the back of someone, you're always at fault.

Can someone tell me:

If it was a green light and he started to move but then stopped am I still at fault!

a.woodrow, Dec 17, 9:55pm
Yes, you were following too close to stop in a safe distance
