Warm up the car engine before driving? Really? Why

Sounds like your husband has bigger worries than the car engine!

I don't blame your husband, it's not unusual to see cars slammed into gear and off virtually before the starter has even disengaged. Just give the the thing a chance to circulate the oil , 30 seconds is no big deal.

If you are using a good quality oil and take it easy for the first few minuites of driving there is no way you need to sit for 30 secs before driving off!

Fair point 40wav but.
Water up to temp doesn't mean the core internals are.
Ever driven a car with an oil temp gauge! It's the meat thermometer of the engine.
Rovercitron, Explain yourself please! What worries!

You should take this time to do something nice for him.

he is correct and more so in winter once started wait for atleast 15-20s to allow oil to circulate engine more so in bigger ones 6s-8s if you listen you can hear the engine noise reduce as oil pressure builds drive off slowly n use low engine revs >3,000 for atleast few min even when climbing hills so 30s is no biggie and would be doing longer in lower than 10C conditions
