I need to do the cam belt on my girlfriends car, its only about 20,000km overdue :S
Anyways, its a 1996 EP90 Starlet with a 2E in it. ringing around it appears my two best options are a "Gates" kit for $180 or a "Dayco" kit for $135.
Any comments on either of these brands!

what size belt 20mm or 23mm wide ! both good brands but expensive .Surely at those prices it would include the water pump.

Often Toyota has a standard pricing for cambelt kits,have you checked with your local Toyota agent!

Both are good, if they both have the same components in them I would get the cheaper one.

Yeah, the kits include everything (seals+pulleys+ belt)but the waterpump(priced seperately @ ~$100)
Toyota quoted $490 for everything waterpump, belt, seals, pulleys.
So we're looking at gate for $280 or Dayco for $235 Including the waterpump
