Knock sesnor or cheap fuel

Ive had a three customers come in with their cars pinking.scans show no problems with the knock sensor or ignition so I was wondering about the 40cents off fuel promotion doing the rounds currently. I'm wondering if there has been some old 91 fuel hanging around the tank farm which is at the limit of it's RON octane rating so pak n slave are selling it off cheap! after all 40c a litre discount is more than the independant stations make in profit.I ask them put 95 in their cars and the pink dissappears. All 10 year old cars BTW

My experience is not to use the cheap fuel - full stop.
Im a sparky too, and use it in all my cars. and i know know one seems to have money for fuel but its much much better and I tell everyone the fuel savings and less problems will pay for it.

91 is a dirty fuel. compare fuel filters from a car run on 91 and one on 95/96

I have used tanks of 91 in my falcon. then tanks of 95 say 10 tanks in a row each. I havent noticed any diff.

If your engine has a low compression say, below 9.5:1 then 91 is probably going to be just as good as 95.
