Changing wheels ( nasty steelies ) currently tyres are 195/65 - 15 to alloys = 16' x 7.5. what size tyres will give me the best fit without changing total wheel dia on road! 215 or 225 x 60 or 55's!
Your current steelies have a rolling circumference of 1913.61 215/55 - 16 have a rolling circumference of 1938.34 http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html About half way down there is a handy little calculator for rolling circumferences

Thanks Bellky, looks like I will need a 55 profile to minimize difference between 15" and 16" rims. The Alloys are 7.5" so what do you recommend 215 or 225 for the width!

The match for 195/65x15 is 225/50x16 or 205/55x16

205s are ideal on 7" rims. so i think either 215 or 225 would be okay on 7.5" rim :)

What car are they to go on! I would go 205/55 for max cheapness because they are a very common size compared to the 215/55 or 225/50. I've run 205/55 on an 8 inch ride rim with very minimal 'stretch'.
