How hard is it to change the cambeltbelt yourself. Im looking at buying the family car etc. Mileage 175 000km. Cheers. Ive changed cambelts on earlier model cars, cortinas, holdens,.

1600 and 2000 OHC motors had cambelts.Doing one in an Oddity is somewhat harder lol, balance shafts and 2 tensioners for a start if its the motor I'm thinking of.

true! never seen one apart.

Not hard, but takes a few hours. And keep in mind the engine runs backwards.

perhaps im wrong about the corntina. But ok balancing shafts etc and very little space to work in.perhaps not a job for me.

Hell yes, every Cortina sold here post '74 was belt driven, when the 1600 pushrod was replaced with the OHC,with the exception of the optional 2.3 V6 used in the Mk5 Ghias, and of course the Falcon powered Aussie ones.Yeah anyway the other problem with the Honda engines can be getting the crank pulley bolt out, they can be seriously difficult unless you've got a serious impact gun.

they are an easy enough job to do and room isnt to bad in them just make sure all your marks line up before you take the old belt off and put the new belt on a bit of twink does wonders for these jobs
