Spark plug question

red97, Apr 1, 6:59am
just bought 4 spark plugs for my outboard engine, they cost 9 dollars each and are champion brand. in the past i have used the ngk equivalent for around 5 dollars each and theyseemed fine. i just noticed some for sale for 48 dollars each laser iridium tipped. can anybody tell me the differance that would justify 8 to 10 times the price.

Really the only difference is longevity - performance would be very minor to the fact it would be impossible to notice. In cars copper last approx 20-30k and iridium 100k.

most likely titanium tipped, that sort lasts 100,000 kms in cars. so i expect that its the equivalent to that. log onto the bosch website, i think there is an explanation of the types on there.

They last 100,000kms+ in a car and have precious metal in them. The offer no performance benefit, only longevity.

Great for transverse V6 engines where the back three cylinders are a total PITA to change.

thanks, that makes sense
