Filtering oil

I need to do a run in procedure on a new mechanical LSD, the oil for the gearbox is about $120 so in don't want to dump that oil after 20 mins running, any suggestions for filtering the oil? I would be removing any metal particles that would be produced while running in the lsd.

Giant magnet. Get one out of an old microwave.

an old uncle of mine used to use a length of nylon rope and it slowly siphoned through drip by drip like a wick, took ages.you could just let it stand for ages and suck off 80% carefully?

Don't go there; run in with mineral oil and never recycle. With performance components oil is a small component of the overall budget.

The only reasonably positive way to clean oil is with a centrifuge of some sort.
Doesn't need to be high speed because time will take care of that

Filter the oil through an old pair of nylons or pantihose doesnt matter whose wife/girlfriend or yours. You should be able to see any metal filings.Do it 2-3-4 times then if you want put a magnet in ,but that will only pick up ferrous metal if any left.

A centrifuge is the ONLY reliable way to clean oil
