Before selling a car

Is it better to have the scratches and dents repaired though insurance or sell it as it is (few dents and scratches but nothing major)? Would a dealer repaired it? Cheers

the question is your insurance going to pay for it and what exess money do you have to pay, verses the lesser value somone will pay for your car in the state it is in now. plus are your insurance premium going to be gigher after. these are the things to compair

First question is:- Where are the scratches and dents - all together (as in done at the same time) or all around?

Insurance Co's treat every incident as separate. So an excess will apply to every one.

A bit hard to convince an assessor that a dent on the right front was done at the same time as one on the left rear. Although there are good stories such as "Tank slapper" But I would never suggest that to anyone.

You just have/need to get a quote, and do the sums.
Always better to have it looking good and cared for.

Dings and dents devalue a car more than the cost of repair as a rule of thumb. -unless its a real cheap car.
Often a "dingbuster" and a touch up guy can improve small dings and scratches.

Depends what it is, if it is a real cheapy then getting dings and scratches fixed is not going to change the price much.
For something nicer it could be much more viable.

How much is car worth? If it's a good car then call touch up guys or similar who can clean it up on site for not a lot. Buyers will see cars in dealers that have been touched up and will compare. First impressions count.
If it's an old car cheap just leave it.
