I'm sick of dealing with overbearing, over talkative men who think they know what women want. Hint ONE: establish what I know before going on and on and on about the features, as tho I'm some dunce who hasn't done their research. Hint TWO: don't start flirting with me because you instantly come off as a sleaze and I defo wont be buying from you.

o for a woman sale person who might understand my needs better, who doesn't flirt and perhaps has a more gentle approach. gawd help me.

Good Luck! let us know what you get and why you chose it. Always an interesting analysis on how a woman's mind works. Also please say what it was you originally had in mind as well. If my wife is anyone to go by she'd start with a Peugeot 308 but end with a Postman Pat type wagon because she liked the colour of the dashboard.

Oh I do SO hear ya OP. Years ago In Auckland I went to probably one of Auckland's biggest Ford dealers - said I wanted to look at 5 cars suitable for reps and one for moi as National Sales Mgr. Useless guy (45-ish) showed little interest, seemed an effort to show me anything, didn't ask the relevant questions. Ended up with him giving me his card and believe it or not, saying to me, "well, have a look around, and if you see something you think might be OK, give this card to your boss & I'll have a chat with him" - to which I promptly ripped the card in half in front of him and said 'Let me tell you something sunshine - I, in fact, AM the boss - and you have just lost the sales of 6 cars. Went across the road to the Mitzi dealer (had NO intention of buying Mitzi's) and got a young 23yr old only 3 weeks into the job. Even before he showed me any cars, asked me a number of questions, which of course then directed him to show me suitable cars. (hehe - had probably just completed the Sales School Course - bet he did well too as the basics were well adhered to!) Within an hour he had sold me 6 cars - bet he thought the Car Sales game was REAL easy lol lol. The old story - "never assume - it will make an 'ass' out of 'u & me"

I had similar problems, but with my age. Alot of sales people did not take a 19 year old seriously when looking for $12,000+ cars. But you can not just paint all car salesmen with the same brush because there was one bad person.

Yep when I was 18 I bought a $24,000 Subaru partially because the dealer was really good and helpful, unlike the knob from the Honda dealership who saw me looking in the window of an Accord wagon and said "you do realise that is a $26,000 car right?" And told me that they don't stock cars in my price range, even though I had never even talked to him!

Got to choose my first company car when I was 19, brand new ute but the Nissan dealer wouldn't even let me drive a Navara, his loss I guess. Ended up getting treated properly at Mitsubishi and the company ended up buying a few of them.

Back in 1994 I walked into a dealership in Hamilton and asked to look at a turboed 89 gt legacy. They told me nope. Wouldnt even start it for me.
3 weeks later I bought an 89 rs legacy in Panmure Auckland for $26,500
I was 20 years old and the salesman told me it could do 180k per hour. I drove it round the corner and pulled 180 over waipuna bridge in 4th gear. Id bought the car before we got to the lights at the end of the bridge. Haha
That same year we also bought a 88 rs vr4 and a mazda gtx from tha same dealer for two of my friends. Not all sales men are jerks. Good on autoangels tho. Cool idea

Do hope we get a report on the auto angels experience from the OP.

I'll keep my mouth shut until then.

dee238, Jul 2, 5:07pm
Yes, will be interesting to hear what the OP wanted to buy and how the auto angels came across.

patiki1, Jul 2, 7:41pm
I suppose a female sales person is better for women, they ask one question, what colour do you like.Men will ask more technical questions.

tamarillo, Jul 2, 8:42pm
Op, I think mrs Kaz works at the dealership too, judging my someone's comment.

Maybe they were not flirting with you and you just think that's what men do because you are sooo attractive?

piperguy, Jul 3, 1:35am
I am a bloke and I have been around lots of car yards lately. Pretty unimpressed with the male sales staff I have encountered so far, and when I was passing Auto Angels the other day I popped in. Much nicer experience so I am certainly considering going there when I am ready to buy.

elect70, Jul 3, 2:23am
Its a wonder they dont have females in car yards ,men are suckers for a bit of skirt , car could be a dunga but after shes flashee her long eyelashes hes done for .

tamarillo, Jul 3, 4:33am
Are you daring to suggest a woman might use her sexuality to her advantage? You sexiest swine, go outside and hit yourself thrice.

timmo1, Jul 3, 4:42am
What happens if the female sales person is a lesbian and also hits on you?

sr2, Jul 3, 5:28am
LOL; it will be topless car sales next, don't get any idea's there Kaz!
(Shudders at the mental image).

My sister has lived in Sydney for yonks and buys a new car periodically. Last time she wandered into a Ford showroom where none of the guys even acknowledged her until an Asian salesman cottoned on to her. He got the easiest sale of the day.

poppy62, Jul 3, 8:04am
It's probably because you make a better looking Woman than her partner (possibly).

gammelvind, Jul 3, 8:08am
This is crazy, I only worked as a car salesman for a year and part of the sales training was never ever underestimate the buying power of a woman, either as the principal purchaser or as the main influence when a couple purchase.
Seems that many male salesmen still don't understand the basics.

curlybear446, Jul 3, 8:25am
My wife applied to be a saleswoman in a very upmarket car sales firm that hired her on the spot. She did very well. She knows european cars very well and that is what they specialised in.

a mate was a rough looking dairy farmer with heaps of coin to buy a brand new clubsport. 1998. he rocks into "The" Holden " dealer in AKLD . he's dressed in singlet, shorts and gumboots. they barely could bother to talk to him. he drove from AKLD to Ebbets in Hamilton.Ebbets salesman was excellent,so my mate brought his new clubsport.Morale. don't judge the book by its cover.

petal_91, Jul 3, 9:24pm
And then for everyone one customer who is an exception to a stereotype and might decide to buy your vehicle because you give them extra consideration, there are twenty that conform to it, and do stuff like this:

"I thought the guy [the customer] was a bit strange, but you can't judge a book by its cover, he had a full drivers licence and I had all his details. I've sold more expensive cars [than the Falcon] to rougher people."
