Slightly different I know but we used to have a 2008 Mondeo (manual) with the two litre engine. (great car). it definitely had a chain not a belt!

Meanwhile, the 2009 Mondeo 2000cc diesel turbo IS cambelt driven.

I drove a 2.3, auto one. Gutless and used 9.3L/100km open road cruising. Far more than I expected from a modern car of that size.

The diesel turbo has 70% more torque than the petrol version. I hated diesel cars until I drove the diesel turbo Mondeo and realised it's better than the petrol one. I can't believe I just said that.

Yeah I loved everything about that model mondeo, so I bought a G6E Falcon. Better in every way, including economy.

i drove that model mondeo in t/d and then bought the newer version and chipped it. drives very well and gets 1000-1100kms/ tanks. bet the falcon cant do that.

Of course not. We were talking the petrol model. I like the TD a lot, but am not yet convinced they've sorted the reliability issues with the drivetrain. Dual mass thingamybob etc
