hw long is a piece of string question but is this a real biggie? Clutch has nothing until the last 2 inches or so. can get it into first but it creeps forward when clutch should be fully engaged. any ideas?

It is due a service, I never touch under the bonnet to be honest, wouldnt have a clue what Im doing, couldnt even find where to check the fluid!

Most likely it then. Fluid will be closer to the centre of the vehicle near your brake reservoir. That if it is hydraulic. If cable it will be a conduit coming out of the firewall most likely. The cable can stretch. All you do is make the conduit longer to take up the stretched cable. Might pay to take it to a garage though as our car had similar symptoms and it turned out to be the front bearing in the gearbox had collapsed.

Get it serviced , yup our clutch needs help. Or try different stirrups.
