Hi guys; looking at a 2009 Getz, for a friend who's on a limited budget and needs reliable transport. 80,000km, 1.4, NZ new, full service history,any known issues?

Drove one in OZ (1000+ kms) as a rental and it was really gutless my Mrs hated the thing. Otherwise it's OK basic transport.

Oz getz were mostly 1200 cc nz ones 1400 owned one did 30000 km also got a good trade had no problems go for it

sr2--I don't think they are a bad car at all. They seem to tick the boxes as a cheap cheerfull small car. They seem reasonably roomy and definitely not bad to drive at all. feedback Ive had is they are a bit gutless. Only thing I would do is confirm the engine. Im sorry I don't know if the 2008 is belt or chain drive and if belt when it is soposed to be replaced.

Thanks for the info guys; had a good drive of one, the earth didn't move in the power department but it felt competent and capable as a city car. With lot's of internal space, good visibility and comfortable seats I can see why they sell well. I have a mate who runs a small fleet of them as customer courtesy cars and he's found them to be reliable, and easy to work on - apparently the cam-belt is only $300 (ish) to have changed.
Think I'll go for it.

From what I can gather, manuals are few and far between. The conventional auto drives well and if serviced is reliable.

There was never a 1.2 Getz made. And the 1.1 was never sold in Australia.
