Fun cars, Twin Clutch gearbox is great to use, the Golf R is very similar in performance and has the same engine etc, but they seem to cost around the same price anyway. Get a PPI done by a VW/Audi Specialist and pay the $150-$200 it costs for peace of mind. Often import versions of these cars are not serviced correctly.
But that shape has been around since 2004 in Audi A3 guise, (facelifted since) but its still an old looking car for 36k.
For a lot less you could get the 1.8T or 2.0T A3 model, S3 is faster, but its still not extremely fast or anything, 0-100 in about 5.7

Good cars to drive, but not very fast for the price. That one would be a nuisance having everything on the screen in japanese, unless they are able to change it?

I don't have experience with this older model, but I did a fair bit of research and consideration on the new model Audi S3. I purchased the new Mk7 Golf R over the Audi S3.

At the agents for Audi , Archibalds in Christchurch or one nearer to you . Archis did mine and gave a very thorough report on it .
