Based on the same platform at the Ford Mondeo. Read this:

I liked the wagons , a 3.0 v6 (sod the fuel bills) in black with the turbine alloys looked great. The S-type style rear side window and "c" pillar just didn't suit on the sedan version I think.

I was under the impression the x type were all the same from 2003-2008
Shows what I know.

I had a 3 litre wagon for a few years and found it good. Whilst the floor pan is from the Mondeo, the All-Wheel Drive system cetainly isn't

The platform design is derived from the same as the Mondeo. None are Ford Mondeos.

As a second car I have a 2001 3Litre V6 with all the bells and whistles. Built in phone, all leather, voice operated everything, all wheel drive etc. Lovely to drive but not particularly economical. Very cheap to buy for a car of this class.

Guy who owns one calls it a Mondeo in a fur coat !. we both had a chuckle.
