Legnum gdi 1998 abs light

Friends car, they're not mechanically minded. Abs light comes on periodically but often. Their mechanic said its ok to use and it costs about $2000 to fix. Think they need new abs module.
Does this car have a diagnostics system that can give a code to verify this? Thinking of giving them information so they can ask mechanics questions.
They have wof but were told not next time.

ABS accumulator? 2nd hand one would do the trick, even Pick a part has ABS assy for $49.00 should find a good one even at 10:1 ratio. less than $500. Car may have a 2 plug diagnostic ports.

Read the instructions on the link you may find it don't need a scan and manual extraction can be achieved

Cheaper option than new is reconditioned.
