So I heard it was a good idea to get one of these suckers. Which brand offers the best quality / value?

Oh there is SO MANY to choose from. There is one chap I have followed alot on Youtubewho specialises in reviewing dash cams (Techmoan). The dash cam that caught the meteor over Tauranga the other night seemed partuiculary good. IMO the number one criteria for a dash cam is to be able to read number plates of other cars.(over taking you & oncoming) You would not believe how hard it is to get a dash cam that can do that. IMO you need to look at spending $400 plus to get a half decent one. I am on my second and it is suppose to be 1080. but it is crap. I really wonder if I would just be better off using my gopro.

Thanks for the info. This is something that I have not considered.That crosses supercheapauto's offerings off the list.
