Hi Team, I am not particularly mechanically minded and am having trouble with the above drivers door which stays on while the car is being driven. I have taken the bulb out but the light still stays on. I am reluctant to go to Honda as their costs are so high but am I doing any damage letting the issue continue?

well what year is the vehicle the old mechanical switches where exchanged for electronic and micro switches in the door lock modules on more newer cars that are also getting old now

Yes have fiddled about with it and sprayed . sorry yes my accord is fairly ancient. 1997

Assuming you are meaning the indicator light in the dash. If you push the switch in with your finger - does the light go out? Did the interior light stay on when the door was closed?
If either of those two happened, then the door might need adjusting.

how do you remove the bulb but it still lights up that should be yr first concern

OP has removed the bulb from the interior light, but not the indicator light in the dash. (Bit bloody hard to do that)

go to local wrecker and get another door courtesy lite switch. $10 max. for a cd /cf accord
