Tyre ratings and wof requirements

ive got a ute with 235/45/17 97v x3 and one 235/45/17 97y .Now the 97v needs replaced as its worn and I have a good 97w here I could fit.Will that ok wof wise?They are all directional tyres

Yep, there is no difference in the load rating, its only the speed rating that is different between those.

Actually it wouldn't have mattered if the tyre had a load rating of 95,96,98 or 99 either, if such tyres existed, it still would have been passable.

yeah heard it can be 2 out for a wof but wasn't sure about the speed rating but I spose as long as its good for 100kph it should be legal

I have never seen them check the rating on a tyre only the tread depth.
I have had mismatched tyres before and passed as the tread depth was legal

Depends on what 'mismatch' was involved, if it was simply a different tread pattern, but the same tread type and it meets the other criteria its not failable. I'm not going to go further into what is and isn't allowed specifically but what is commonly believed to be illegal actually isn't, and things you wouldn't think mattered actually do.

I am talking about 2 different types of tyre same size but different makes and legal tread depth

Yes, and. ? If the make was different, so what. The make doesn't have to be the same.
