Mitsubishi Colt - Broken Part

Hi Guys. I noticed today a broken metal part under my wifes car.

I am unsure what its for, it seems to be for protecting the underneath of the car only, but I am not sure if its for anything else such as holding something or protecting brakes etc.

Safe to drive until I get it repaired?
Photos Below are photos of the damaged part

I think questions need to be asked about how it got broken as well, it was not a silent transaction. It looks like protection or a jacking point maybe?

A bolt on jacking point by the look of it. Bend it back up, or preferably remove it completely until it can be fixed, its used to prevent damage to the rail from jack heads.
