My 3.0 legacy wagon does both very well.

db.price, Oct 24, 2:34pm
Now the Legacy Wagon is a GREAT car and the H6 engine is good too (if a little thirsty). Would love to have convinced my wife to go for the Outback.

So what didn’t you like about the handling of the Jeep SRT from your experience. Why did you find it overrated?

mrcat1, Oct 24, 3:13pm
I have a brand new weapon from another division of the FCA umbrella, and I am very impressed with the build quality and it just has stump pulling grunt literally, and I ended up with a brand new Grand Cherokee 3.0l diesel as my vehicle had a issue, I had it for just over a week and it was a excellent vehicle, heaps of performance, comfortable, quality was excellent, amazing handling for what it was, was very impressed and didn't want to give it back.

Where as I picked up a near new Holden Calais in aussie as a rental, it had done virtually no kilometers and the interior fell apart while we had it, was very disappointed and I took it into one of their offices in Bathurst or Orange and they said dont worry, they all do it, just keep driving it, and the other issue was stones got up on the shock struts and it makes them make one hell of a racket turning, couldn't wait to give it back.

Didn't drive the SRT but the Jeeps I did drive rolled like an ocean liner and felt very uncomfortable in a tight turn even at moderate speed. Engine and road noise where obvious. Check out the Jeep GC moose test on You Tube - NOT a pretty sight!

Build quality was OK - it tends to be something that you find out about over time as things start to come apart, squeaks etc. The Grand Cherokee I looked at looked great then when you looked close there were gaps in panels in the inside, some of the stitching was not as good. Just little things that you saw if you really had a good look - and something that would bug the shit out of me if I bought it and saw later.

Showing your ignorance again, we don’t change our allegiance.

The SRT is awesome. Just clicked over 10,000km.
Love it.
Honestly. It is one of the best handling SUVs I have driven.

db.price, Oct 25, 3:20am
Just don't swerve for a moose

desmodave, Oct 25, 3:25am
May be you should work on your convincing skills as your not putting up much of a fight on here . If you have been raped by a Jeep in the past , may be some counselling would help you get over it . .

mopsy3, Oct 25, 10:26am
We have 2 fairly late model jeeps sitting in our workshop that we can't get parts for. Best place for them is the local scrap yard.

edangus, Oct 25, 10:39am
Should be good for that one. deer, cows and sheep on the other hand. could be a worry.

Still the best car I have had to date is a 2010 Chrysler 300C SRT8. I miss her so badly. 100,000km of comfort and no drama.

edangus, Oct 25, 10:40am
What parts?

db.price, Oct 25, 12:09pm
Never owned a Jeep - but reviews and personal driving experience are not outstanding. When was the last time a Jeep was ranked in the top SUV lineup? Have they ever been?

mrcat1, Oct 25, 3:42pm
That's really nothing to do with the vehicles, more to do with a NZ agent not having parts in stock.
I have just been thru that with them for a DEF pump for my brand new Ram, they got one in by DHL in the end and got it sorted quickly, in the mean time I had a Grand Cherokee and loved it.

tsjcf, Oct 25, 3:47pm
Its good that you like the Cherokee judging by the reliability of those Rams you will be driving it a bit.

mrcat1, Oct 25, 3:56pm
Not sure how they get over 1 million miles out of Rams then if they are always broken down?

craig04, Oct 25, 4:03pm
so to summarise, no experience with an SRT or Trackhawk to base your comment of over rated performance and handling on.

edangus, Oct 25, 4:46pm
All jokes aside. we also grabbed the Limited Renegade. Not a bad wee Jeep. Little Fiat 1.4 Turbo has plenty of pep. Brilliant visibility and ride height. Easy to Park. Cheap as chips to run.

db.price, Oct 25, 5:19pm
No not the SRT or TRAILhawk. But then with the exception of engine size between them not a lot of difference in handling characteristics.

You have seen the Moose test right? One of the few SUVs to fail that test and fail spectacularly. Are you suggesting that the SRT or Trailhawk would handle better?

db.price, Oct 25, 5:21pm
The Renegade is an interesting car. Styling that harken back to the original Jeep. Actual serious off road ability. Just not a lot of room in the boot thought that snub tail gives it some great departure angles.

craig04, Oct 26, 1:24pm
Ummmm, yes.

mrcat1, Oct 26, 1:37pm
Hilux failed it in a spectacular fashion as well, your point is what?

db.price, Oct 26, 4:08pm
Point is a new car that fails that test shouldn't be on the road. Bit like the Ford Mustang that got only a 2 star safety rating!

edangus, Oct 26, 5:54pm
In regards to the Moose Test. That's a 2012 model. They have passed it since.
I would be inclined to think the SRT would perform better. Different suspension for a start.

It may I guess. The Jeep still felt like it was wallowing when I drove it. Very uncomfortable climbing our hill which has a speed limit of 80 but a number of very tight turns. Even at a much lower speed it felt on the edge of control.
