The shitiest countries in the world are all capitalist without even a vestige of socialism. Most of Africa for example are shining examples of capitalism with minimal regulation.

The market economy countries with a high level of socialism and regulation perform the best - both economically and for their citizens. Most of Western Europe, Scandinavia, Aus and NZ.

Right the problem is if you have a retard country with no enforced rules then you can find your way ok.
if you have this retard country now enforce there rules. Thats where it starts to become quite problematic Quickly .
it gets harder and harder to do things now.
like you are forced thi $hit on your own door step right by law. just as a example how it is here.
You used to be able to send a picture that you did it.
But now the government has enquierys and employed people to verify you really shit on your front door step.
This is a analogy to illustrate what the problem is only.
if you have a spear tyre thats worn and not secure its a wof fail if you take it out for 2 minutes its a pass.
Real example of how quite a lot of rules laws bylaws and all the other crap these morons dreamed togather works here.
i could not get a phone line unless i had a trench to lay a cable .
well how do building sites get a phone line then.
Well they have a builders pole we conect to a builders pole.
So me went and asked a builder can i have a builders pole for 1 or 2 weeks. used some number 8 wire and hung it on the fence .
and woala the retards sold me a phone line.
Allmost everything in this country was like that but there was no one to come and check things solong as you did what the rules asked you to do. like shit on your door step to get a building permit.
Never mind your house flooded solong as you shit there.

Actually no, Sweden is about to collapse and will likely never recover. Police stations are closing because of too many bombings, they have had an amnesty on hand grenades and people are starting to wear body armor on the street in an effort to stay safe.
I give it at most 10 years.

kazbanz, Sep 1, 5:03am
I would like to see how the figures look if you add in drivers licence level ,driving experience and licence "cleanliness"

mrfxit, Sep 1, 5:05am
Exactly

Old Volvo, there's the answer if you can't afford a new car.

vtecintegra, Sep 1, 5:20am
The thing that most people (including politicians) don't seem to understand about NCAP/ANCAP is that the ratings are not comparable between years and cars only need to be tested when they're new.

If you go back and test a 4 or 5 star car from the mid 2000s it's going to do terribly now because the criteria has changed. This actually happened with the Fiat Punto because Fiat reintroduced it to Europe (for what reason I don't know) and NCAP decided to retest it.

the-lada-dude, Sep 1, 5:26am
You can't trust numbers and statistics, esp with a Govt mandate or mickey mouse policy, so what do the numbers look like when every vehicle on the road is a Ford Model T or A or Lada, or 10 star Merc ?

next-to-normal, Sep 1, 5:55am
im still not happy that my old merc 1992 diesel with abs brakes drivers air bag ,pretension seat belts ,built with all sorts of safety was given a 1 star ancap, hope this new legislation is about new cars with low ratings,to stop micro cars appearing on the market, our car culture wont tolerate cars been crushed coz some idiot had a dream. if they care about peoples lives, why not include the deaths in our health system,10 thousand doctors kill way more by carelessness than the 4 million cars in nz,poor china has 250,000 road deaths America has 50 thousand, 378 for nz, and its a problem

morrisjvan, Sep 1, 9:44am
Every year there are many older cars permanently leaving the road so eventually the 'problem' will sort itself out without anyone having to do anything .

jgoater, Sep 1, 9:53am

elect70, Sep 1, 9:59am
This is COLs big answer to the road toll .Put everyone into disposable shit cans full of electronic aids , but do nothing about the nut behind the wheel

tweake, Sep 1, 11:46am
not really, thats really slow and nz imports many really old vehicles.
20 year rule i think it is. nice to bring in classic cars or old 4wd's etc, but they bring in old hiaces etc. cheap death trap vehicles that poor people typically buy.
the people that need safe vehicles buy the least safe vehicles.
its no wonder they feature high in the road toll.

vtecintegra, Sep 1, 2:54pm
Is it though? All models sold here were rated 5 stars - they weren't any different of course just tested many years earlier.

olymp, Sep 1, 3:20pm
Cindy has already got a finance option up and running. Called WINZ, you know WHEELS IN NZ

thejazzpianoma, Sep 1, 3:57pm
Goater knows that full well, it's been explained many times (and it's self evident to anyone with common sense anyway). Some people are just here to troll and are not even very imaginative with it, posting the same link time after time wherever they think it could be even remotely relevent.

vtecintegra, Sep 1, 4:28pm
It is relevant though and it brings up a good point - some models like the Punto are sold long after they're obsolete and don't need to have their crash ratings updated.

That means stuff like the Mirage and Lancer can be sold as 'five star cars' simply by virtue of being on the market for so long.

flack88, Sep 2, 4:35am
That's right, look at the crash test of the Punto is clearly not unsafe, the cabin holds up well better than some *5 cars,a 1996 Lexus LS 400 gets a 'Good' rating in the American Insurance 45mph offset crash ,sure not as good as a brand new one but far from unsafe,i not sure how this F!@#$wit running this safety plan can work that out?!

oddbits, Sep 2, 9:12am
all those hideous small cars gone from out roads , corella's tida's etc funny as considering Corollas are one of the most popular cars

thejazzpianoma, Sep 2, 9:16am
What's wrong with late model Corollas from a safety standpoint?

oddbits, Sep 2, 9:17am
the truth is even with all this fuel tax they added to auckland to ease congestion is not going to work unless they get thousands of cars of the road ,
screw roading improvements in high crash zones (which would lower the road toll) not needed apparently
and and who will it affect the most the lower income families most likely that cannot afford to update their vehicles

oddbits, Sep 2, 9:20am
late model is safe its low safety rating 1-2 stars for the 98 - 2013 models .

thejazzpianoma, Sep 2, 9:22am
You have a good point in principle there, the L300 deathtrap remained on sale here for an absurd amount of time due to that sort of loophole. What really angered me was how Mitsubishi touted it's "Safety" on their website.

However the poster above is simply trolling, that's what they do in every thread. The Punto had excellent safety when introduced and was only imported here for 10 years. Not unreasonable at all, plus I am being fair and including both consecutive models based on the same floorpan.

thejazzpianoma, Sep 2, 9:24am
Fair call, we should definitely stop importing the older ones then. Likewise the older Swifts, although I don't know how many of those are imported nowadays.

Who cares about popularity, there are so many other safer vehicles available that will do the job just as well or better. In the case of the Tiida, it's popularity is only a function of car dealer hype and out dated stereotypes. They are at best a boring car and are just going to create a premature recycling issue for us.

oddbits, Sep 2, 9:31am
The Swift is extremely popular nifty little thing how would they shape up I wonder
