Clutch master cylinder or slave?

muzz67, Jul 21, 9:35am
94 Courier 4wd farm truck, (hour from town, not reg'd. )
clutch works fine if pedal used for short time, but if clutch used for longer period then becomes less effective to a point where it creeps forward with pedal all the way down.
Fluid level doesn't seem to be dropping.
Have never fiddled with hydraulic clutch before,, should I start at the master or slave? Figured I'd remove and take to specialists in town.
Cheers.

If the fluid is not disappearing it is the master cylinder cups bypassing

Thanks,, hopefully wont have to grovel around in the dirt then.

Do them both it will save you having to do the slave next week.

also check under dust cap of slave for fluid if the cilinder is outside the box. if its wet replace it if its dry it most probaby is what poster 2 stated.

Muzz--I agree with mecanix. Replace the slave same time as you sort the master. Logic says the seals in both are exactly the same age and been through as many cycles so if one is bypassing the other can't be far off leaking.

yea if its cheap enough. and OP remember clutch fluid is the same as brake fluid and brake fluid should be exchanged every 24 month as best practice.

Yes how many people do that intrade?!

^ i reckon its a have to sell more brake fluid & make work for mechs . much same as cooalnt every 2 years , it doesnt degrade provided you use same for top ups . .
