Different tyre sizes on car

express, Oct 26, 8:05pm
Does it do any damage to have 195 50 15 on the front. and 185 55 15 on the back. I think the tyres are supposed to be the size on the rear all around.

As long as it’s not all wheel drive it will be fine.

I would check with the insurance company if they are OK with the modification, else you could be wasting your money when it comes time to make a claim.

2 best questions award.

As above, won't really matter as long as it's not an AWD vehicle.

its not just tire size, its also tread pattern and compound.
different tread pattern and tread compounds can make for some weird handling.
not really an issue at low speeds, but at higher speeds and poor conditions it can be substantial.
far better to have equal tires all around.

it begs the question,
what effect does unequal tire sizes have on ABS, stability and traction control systems?

Which are designed for different size tyres.

Main thing keeping you alive on the road is tyres. It amazes me how people are so indifferent to them.

No problems at all.

Seems a bit arse-about-face by looks, to me.

Very little. Pretty much all of those systems learn the rolling radii of the wheels fairly quickly.
