I do my own changes so have no idea of what a garage would charge.
An elderly friend of mine thinks it could cost him up to $1000. He has an 1800cc Toyota Caldina automatic.
I suggested that figure is probably for a full service, maybe including a cambelt. What would one expect to pay a garage for an oil change and filter for that car?

That price I would have to be. But then the stealerships are changing between $126 to $140 A hour .

Mineral oil maybe $100 from what I have read, $150 with synthetic? Or plus $50 .
$1,000 is a cambelt yup with waterpump etc.

That's ridiculous - tell him I'll do it for $999.

Recently paid $255 incl. for my '13 Camry. Oil, filter, gasket, lube materials, 1.5hrs incl. general service. (no air filter)
Oil Changers, no endorsement from me, but they do a full service from $79.95

Bugel --If its the VVTi caldina -not the mid-late 90's version it doesn't have a cambelt. Depending on the miles travelled it should be about $300 for a service If its at 100k then it will need plugs. so another hundred or so

I had a engine oil change and filter plus radiator service flush done at my mechanic for around 220-230 done with full synthetic. these are the main ones you want serviced.
