So the quality might actually improve,

Oh crap. what will Jazz do now?

You'd buy it for the Jeep brand and a bit of Italian diesel engine tech and shut the rest of it down, in fact Highandry would probably be the only outfit that would want to buy another company at the moment. Both Chrysler and Fiat have been making cars of proven highly questionable quality for decades.

Probably buy a Volkswagen Rocktan (suzuki sx4)

I don't think the VW/Suzuki marriage got further than a broken engagement.

Or maybe a Nissan Santana Gi5

Or a Citroen Commodore

It might be OK, Marchionne retiring is a big issue for Fiat, he is an amazing guy and did absolute wonders for Fiat and Chrysler.

Hyundai's key problem is just experience, it takes so long to be able to compete with the big guys, that's why even the likes of Saab were desirable when they collapsed for their R and D, patents etc.

Potentially it could go very well for both, or not, or more than likely, it just won't happen. I think it's a great move from Hyundai waiting for the share price drop, they are right on the money with their prediction in my opinion.

Good for them.

If it goes ahead I think it will be mainly a financial involvement to broaden Hyundai's market & services. I dont think there will be much engineering crossover, at least to begin with.

They might be able to borrow some tech from the Giulia too

I don't see the diesels being a draw though, they're completely dead marketing wise and it's not like they're better than what Hyundai already has anyway

Analysis - what Hyundai has currently is manufacturing and assembly in eight different countries plus the German design centre.
FCA have pension liabilites etc. Magneti Marelli that Samsung were looking at is being separated from fca.
Electric future for the us?
The us is putting in a lot of solar & wind power generation.
trump put a tariff 30 % on non- US made panels.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuarhodes/2018/02/07/trump-solar-panel-tariff/#16220c42376d Still a dirty grid - US grid is east and west and texas with a separate grid.(power from canada at times) https://theconversation.com/the-old-dirty-creaky-us-electric-grid-would-cost-5-trillion-to-replace-where-should-infrastructure-spending-go-68290 (sounds really great for plugging that mega$ tesla into)

I can't see a value buy for hyundai without liabilites, probably better to rely on natural growth of hyundai, kia and genesis.

Might pick up the mexican ram factory when ram shifts back to the us or maseratir only when the elctric vehciles are proven.
