Quality troll post.

I think 100kmph or 27.7778 meters per second IS certainly not slow.

My old 202 powered single stage Jetboat cracked a ton once.

As a teenager and young adult growing up with fast road bikes through the 80s and 90s, on bikes like a GPZ900, RZ500, GSX-R750, where we would constantly cruise at 200kph plus, 100kph felt slow. It's funny how the brain recalibrates your sense of speed.

These two videos kind of show the effect. Watch these and in particular note the speeds in the 2nd vid. 100kph feels like you have almost come to a stop.

Varies country, but in the UK, either a safety chain or a safety cable (heavy wire rope) is required on unbreaked trailers. In Europe braked trailers typically have a fine cable attached to the tow vehicle that will in the event of a breakaway will apply the brakes and then snap, allowing the trailer detach from the tow vehicle and come to a stop on it's own.

Have seen a trailer come away the tow vehicle on the motorway before. Tandom axle box trailer trailer towed behing a bus converted to a campervan. Draw bar to trailer connection failed, so the bus was still dragging the A frame. Trailer (less A frame) was balanced on the tandom axles, cursing along at near moterway speed while detached from the bus. Bus was in the left lane (of three). Followed along on that lane for a while before gently veering off the road to the left, taking out a lamp-post, and then tumbling end over end. Outcome was very lucky, could have ended up much worse.

Good grief!.

My father bought a Peugeot and the towbar didn't have a hole for the D-shackle safety chain on it. Official Peugeot towbar. He said that they were not required in Europe. I had to drill a hole in it for him. Fortunately the steel was nice for drilling.

I was driving a hire campervan during the xmas break. I use google maps which has a gps speed on the screen. My car speedo is normally about 7km high when compared to the phone gps. This campervan read 5km low! I kept forgetting and then realising and having to adjust down to an indicated 85 in 100 areas.

Jeese. not on the river I hope, you'd be hard pressed to dodge all the rocks at that speed.

60-65mph at sea is very thrilling. even better down the thames in the uk. but 100mph would be mind blowing on water.

bitsnpieces2020, Jan 18, 9:03pm
but the law is for the old cars, and old trailers that might not necessarily be safe at that speed. There are plenty of those still on the road.

When I got to the lake I often used to tell everyone that I had the fastest boat there.

lookoutas, Jan 18, 9:18pm
The faster you are going, the faster you can move out of the way.

My Jetboat had a warm 350 Chevy, a 3 stage Hamilton jet and was only good for about 100kph on water. Could go heaps faster than that on the trailer though. lol

Figure this out.
If you're doing 105 open road. You'll get a $30 ticket.
If you're doing 109, you'll get a $30 ticket.

Here's my old thumper just after some decent wheels were put on the trailer, and before some bigger mudguards were fitted.
Quite plain to see how it could crack a ton.
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/thumb/1471541585.jpg Holy. wonder if there's something bigger. This should be better. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1471541585.jpg

The tow car is the clue to that ton alright.

taintedkitten, Sep 25, 7:15pm
I’ve had two tickets - 104 in 100 km and 54 in 50 km, both sent in mail and $30 I think off top of head.
