Whats the best way to remove carbon deposits from inside the manifold before welding? I was thinking of putting it on the brazier, burn it off.

There used to be a really nasty chemical mix to clean out two stroke exhaust pipes. From memory it was Hydrocloric acid.

Burn it Blast it Chem etch it It's a small crack, I think it's repairable, I'd like to install an egt sensor at the same time.

I spilt a 20l of hydrochloric acid in my garden shed next day there was a 1m × 1m rust hole in the side.

Think it was my Toyota Grande 2 liter single cam i 'arc welded' the exhaust manifold. Had a great old guy [bout my age lol] who gave [sold] me the right rods [came up a golden colour by memory] & was nice to weld with. By memory i just got the angle grinder & ground it up clean. Was a bit of an issue with that motor i think. Had two of those cars [early "80's cars] & body rusted away before the motor gave up.

Drill 1/16 hole end of each crack , stops it spreading
